Taking Screenshot In Android

Users can take a screenshot of their tablet screen in more ways than one in Android – by using volume rockers or through apps. Google introduced the screenshot compatibility firstly in Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, which was the fourth version of Android. If you have Android tablets featuring stock ICS or later, simply press the Power button as well as the Volume Down button simultaneously to take a screenshot.

An audible click sound would be heard aloud when the screenshot gets captured and the screenshot would appear in stock ICS or later under the screenshot folder in the Android Gallery. However, you must note that not all applications are compatible with this feature – so don’t ruin your volume rockers by keeping on pressing them for a screenshot.

Screenshot through Apps

Simply search “screenshot” in Google Play Store and you could find many dedicated applications that let you take a screenshot in Android. The Shortcut Free app, for instance, is compatible with Samsung devices and lets users take a delayed screenshot by shaking the device.

Through such dedicated apps, users could take a screenshot on the device running on any Android version. However, depending on the app policy, users might be required to root the Android tablets for that.

Rooting would let users tweak third party app permissions in their device. Yet again, some apps work with unrooted Android devices as well and users do not need to root their device with No Root Screenshot It for instance. The app would cost some bucks, but the Screenshot It Trial is available in Play Store as an alternative.

Screenshot through PC

To take the screenshot in Android tablets through a computer, download and install the Android SDK app kit from developer forums. Developers create and test Android apps through Android SDK, yet the app is freely available for other purposes. After installing Java SE Development Kit, Android SDK, and device USB drivers in your PC, plug-in the Android device to the computer and run Dalvik Debug Monitor. Then tap on Device > Screen Capture in the Dalvik Debug Monitor menu to take a screenshot in your Android device.
